First application of the phase-imaging ion-cyclotron resonance technique at TRIGA-Trap

Abstract The phase-imaging ion cyclotron resonance technique (PI-ICR) has been implemented at TRIGA-Trap together with a newly built five-pole cylindrical trap. In PI-ICR the total phase of trapped ions is measured by projecting motion onto position-sensitive delay-line micro-channel plate detector. systematic uncertainties have investigated and first mass measurements on stable Pb isotopes performed PI-ICR. new offers higher mass-resolving power, allows checking for presence contaminant species, it proved useful in tuning harmonicity trapping potential as well aligning trap symmetry axis respect to magnetic field visualizing radial motion. This non-scanning where every detected contributes equally, therefore more sensitive than previously used time-of-flight ion-cyclotron-resonance (ToF-ICR) technique, which based scanning sideband-frequency recording their time flight after ejection. It will enable us carry out high-precision actinide region ppb level.
